Where should I begin in U-CV to support my faculty member(s)?

U-CV is a web-based electronic CV tool used to generate CVs in a standard format used at the University of Utah. The data entered in the system can additionally be used to populate online profiles and generate activity reports. Our office, University Faculty Information & Support (UFIS), often works with the faculty coordinator from each department to enter CV information before a faculty member is hired. After the initial entry, faculty and support staff make needed updates within the system.

NOTE for fields that allow rich text formatting (e.g., bold, italics, underline)

  • Use Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac) when pasting into a field that allows rich text formatting. This strips all formatting from the original copied text.

  • If you need to add text on a new line, use Shift+Enter (Shift+Return on a Mac) to add a line break.

To access and update an electronic CV:

  1. Log in to the U-CV application with your uNID and CIS password.

  2. Search/select the faculty member’s name in which you will be making updates.

Your access level determines which faculty member CVs you can view. https://ufis.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/1054015691

3. To see the information already in the system click on Reports and My CV. Then click Run CV.

Note: The SOM CV does not show all CV categories available in U-CV. The Master Display CV format is meant to show all CV categories in U-CV, but we are in the process of adding them.

4. To add new information, find the category that corresponds to the CV section where you want the information. The CV Category Search or SOM CV to U-CV Map are great resources to help you find the correct category.
