Updating the Biography
The biography or “bio” on the Find A Doc profile is a powerful tool to provide a detailed description of your practice and expertise in narrative form to patients or other providers. Likewise the biography on the School of Medicine profile allows researchers to expound on research interests, teaching/training duties, and academic highlights.
To access and update your biography:
Log in to the U-CV application with your uNID and CIS password.
Click on Personal>Biography
Type or paste your biography in the text box. Use Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on Mac) to paste text into that field. This will paste only the text you copied without the original formatting and allow for uniformity on the profile. You can also highlight and click the Remove Format button as circled.
Be sure the “Display on U of U Profile Sites” box is checked and Save.
Tips on what to include in your biography:
Information taken from https://pulse.utah.edu/site/marcomm/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=22
State your specialties/research interests and title/what you do in the first sentence. Search engines will usually pull the first sentence of a body of text to accompany its list of search results on a page. You want a first sentence that accurately reflects your work and is searchable (so that anyone looking for your specialty can find it if possible).
Write a bio that is long enough but not too long. Recommended two to three paragraphs.
Include your most recent work/volunteer projects/collaboration, probably in the second paragraph. While you can include things that you did a few years ago as well, it is best to include recent work.
Be concise.
Excellent biography examples include Fiemu Nwariaku.
