Updating Your School of Medicine Profile (Non-Clinical)

This article gives non-clinical faculty and support staff an overview of how to update each section of the School of Medicine profile. Faculty with a clinical appointment should go to Updating Your Find A Doc Profile for help with updating their profile.

Most information on the School of Medicine profiles pulls from the U-CV System. Log in using your uNID and CIS password.

In the descriptions below, the U-CV menu heading will be listed before the >, and the category is listed second. Menu Heading > Category

Instructions

Academic Profile

  1. You can update your preferred name under Personal > Names.

  2. Updating degrees or credentials after your name

  3. Adding or updating your profile photo

  4. Research interests can be added under Research > Research Interests.

    1. To change the display order, click on Sort Entries for U of U Profiles.

       

    2. In the lower section, click the star icon next to the entries you want to highlight. To change the order, drag and drop entries in the desired positions. Entries in the lower section that were not highlighted will automatically be sorted alphabetically and will appear on the profile below the highlighted entries.

       

    3. Entries added in U-CV that were not selected from the drop-down list will not show online until they have been approved by a member of the UFIS team.

  5. Additional languages can be added under Personal > Language.

  6. The Academic Information section pulls from Appointment Manager in U-CV and the formatting cannot be changed. If information is incorrect or missing, please contact SOM Academic Affairs.

  7. Academic office information can be added under Personal > Addresses.

    1. Select Office Address as the Address Type.

    2. Enter a title and the URL in their respective fields.

    3. Make sure the Display on U of U Profile Sites flag is checked.

    4. Click Save.

    5. To delete an address, click on the X next to the entry you want to delete.

       

    6. At least one entry must be selected as the primary address. If the primary address needs to be deleted, you must first select another entry to be the primary address. This can be done by double-clicking on the address you want as the new primary address (or clicking on the pencil icon), scrolling to the bottom of the edit entry screen, clicking the box next to “Primary Address” and clicking Save.

       

  8. Your email address can be updated under Personal > Email.

    1. When the Display on U of U Profile Sites flag is checked, your primary email address will show on your profile unless a Preferred Email Address is entered.

      1. The Primary Email Address is your institutional email address and cannot be changed.

    2. After entering a preferred email address, click Save.

    3. NOTE: You can enter a preferred email address, but currently, only the primary email address is showing on online profiles. We are working on changes to this category to help faculty comply with the University of Utah’s email policy (see Policy 4-010).

  9. To add a link to a lab website, select Personal > External Links.

    1. Select Add a New Entry or double-click on an existing entry to edit.

    2. Select Research Laboratory as the Link Type.

  10. An academic bio can be added under Personal > Biography.

  11. A research statement can be added under Research > Research Statement.

Education History

  1. Education can be added under General > Education History.

Selected Publications

  1. To add publications to your academic profile, go to Publications > Publications. Select the box in the WEB column next to the publication you would like to add.

Global Impact

  1. This section displays all entries in UCV that have the Global Impact flag checked. View categories that have the global impact flag and their definitions. Entries flagged as global impact in U-CV also show on the Global U Inventory map.

  2. Some faculty members will have a Huntsman Cancer Institute Logo showing on their profile. This affiliation is maintained by University Information and Support. If there is a question about adding or removing this logo, please contact support@ufis.atlassian.net.

Due to the Acquia migration, the Clinical Trials and Video & News sections are not currently showing, but Interactive Marketing & Web is working to add them back.
